Should I expect Albert Pujols to have a slump this year?
It's my first year with a fantasy baseball team and my pick of Pujols has been very rewarding (I'm currently in the top 500 on The Sporting News), but it there a moment I should consider unloading him? Has he been known to have slumps in certain months? Even with a couple of bad days, is it worth giving him up for anyone else?
I'm in a salary-cap league so the question is not about trading with anyone else, but getting maximum value for my player when I let him go.
Look for a salary cap league there is really no point in dropping Pujols, unless you're going to get a young first baseman who is the next big thing (i.e. like P. Fielder was a couple years ago, or A.Gonzalez was with San Diego a few years back). Regardless of The Game said Pujols is a career .335 hitter and he is a constant producer every month, in fact he usually has season highs in the months of June and July, does he get hurt yeah (but he's never played in less then 140 games in as season, but he's average stays the same and he still drives in runs like no else in the game. Is there going to be a slump, yeah all hitters regardless of how good they are go into a slump but a Pujols slump is more like a .250 avg with no home runs and like 4 RBIs during a 5 or 6 span, after that he readjust his swing and goes right back to hitting like he is now, the best way to see how a player hits over a time span go into Yahoo sports search for the player, and bring up his stats, then click on game log and it'll will give you every game he's played in by season at the top. Just use that as a source it should help.
