Chipley High School standout Karsten Whitson watched baseball’s amateur draft Monday night surrounded by friends and family Monday night at Chipley Country Club. They didn’t have to wait long to start the party. Whitson, a 6-4, 195-pound right-hander, was picked ninth overall in the first round by the San Diego Padres .
